Record the route actually taken, the date and observations made along it. Distinguish personal recollections from checked facts. Avoid presenting old conditions or access details as current advice for another paddler.

Keep the finished note with its date and source material. Return to it when you repeat the exercise, and add what changed rather than replacing the earlier observation.
